Disabled and enrolled we begin our first day as a pick-up: the alarm rings at 6 to 7 in fact we expect to explain the work .. there is little to explain and so much to do.
Supplied mega marsupioni we collect all the apples from tree to tree, filling the notorious BIN 400 kg!
We must be careful not to remove the stem and not to lock the apples, working hours are from 7:30 to 16:30 but the payment is piecework: About $ 28 (gross or net?) Bin.
The work is fairly repetitive and tiresome, we often have to climb and bend, but time passes quickly and we are in the countryside.
The first day we collected in two 6 Bin, the minimum required, we are now able a toccare quota 8!
Leggende campagnole narrano di super-fruitpickers che raccolgono sino a 12 Bin a testa al giorno...il che equivale esattamente al quadruplo fatto da noi ( che abbiamo sgobbato senza interruzione)...noi non ci crediamo!
Per ora siamo accampati in un caravan park in un paesino di nome La Trobe affacciato sul mersey river...un fiume dove si possono vedere gli ornitorinchi, appena avremo il giorno libero anderemo a cercarli sicuramente.
